The Hellishness of Unrepentance

As believers enjoy, through communion with the Triune God, something of a foretaste of heaven in their earthly pilgrimage. Unbelievers also know something of Hell in their experience in this life.

"...look upon a man quite forsaken of God in hell; there you may see,as in a lively looking glass, what every man living is when the Lord leaves him; he can blaspheme God but cannot love him; he can despise God but cannot esteem him; he can wish that there were no God to punish him but he cannot submit unto God,"
- Thomas Shepherd

So every ounce of unrepentance is an ounce of hell. It is a precursorof what is to come for those who refuse to repent and obey the gospelof the Lord Jesus. Repentance then, is a foretaste of heaven as we begin, even now, to ejnoy, delight in, and relish something of the Divine life inour earthly existence. So let us, in our daily lives, cast off what-ever scent of sulfur remains and seek to give off a hint of heaven in the way we carry ourselves in this world.
